Notes for Andrew G. SMITH

Andrew G. Smith was one half Choctaw Indian. His mother was a Choctaw
Indian. The Choctaws were basket weavers. The tribe once settled in
Gibson, MS and later moved to Philadelphia, MS. He lived in Jonesville
area of Catahoula Parish, Avoyelles Parish, and Rapides Parish, LA. He
was reported to be walking down a country road when he saw Rozella
Guillot plowing a team of oxen. He decided then and there that he would
marry her.

This page is dedicated to the men and women who braved great danger to come from France and other countries and worked under extremely difficult conditions in the Louisiana Wilderness to produce a better way of life for their descendants.  To all of them we are deeply indebted.
