Notes for Dalton Luke LABORDE

Dalton Luke LaBorde moved his family from Marksville to Leesville, LA
about 1942 where he opened a bar room for the servicemen at Fort Polk.
He also built a huge filling station and tire shop with an entire house
on top in which the family lived. We moved to Baton Rouge about
1946-47. In Baton Rouge he began buying tracts of property and building
subdivisions. On the west side of the Mississippi River, he built a
couple of large lounges. He also had a large juke box route at all the
places in Baton Rouge and West Baton Rouge. That was fun, as a teenager
I would go with Mama to count the money and change the records in the
juke boxes to the newest ones.

I guess there are a lot of interesting stories from the 30's, 40's, and
50's!

This page is dedicated to the men and women who braved great danger to come from France and other countries and worked under extremely difficult conditions in the Louisiana Wilderness to produce a better way of life for their descendants.  To all of them we are deeply indebted.
