Notes for Eli AUTRY

Aunt Clara Bell Autry Lusk had a letter from her Aunt Minnie in New
Orleans that gave much of the information on the Autry's and their roots.
The most colorful was Eli Autry. See her letter attached.
After reading this letter I spent the next couple of very hot summers
in Mississippi cemeteries wanting to stand on the spot this fight took
place over 100 years earlier.
North of Silver Creek, Mississippi, there is a well kept cemetery atop
a hill, surrounded by a chain link fence. (Cliburn Cem.) I was able to
locate the resting place of his mother and father there. I'm certain Eli
Autry is there in one of the many unmarked graves. .........ldl

This page is dedicated to the men and women who braved great danger to come from France and other countries and worked under extremely difficult conditions in the Louisiana Wilderness to produce a better way of life for their descendants.  To all of them we are deeply indebted.
