Notes for Claude Latulippe JUNEAU

Claude Juneau was called Latulippe. He was a prominent man in Avoyelles
Parish and was the father of 10 children. Claude Juneau and Francoise
Lemoine and family were early settlers at Avoyelles Post. Their youngest
child was born there June 1780. Their son-in-law, Jacques Gagnard was
the first commander of the Post. All of their children were also early
residents of Avoyelles.

Claude Juneau died at Avoyelles Post between June 1784 and August 1792.
He is mentioned in an Avoyelles document dated June 19, 1784. He was
then 78 years old. Other documents show that his wife, Francoise
Lemoine, was widowed by August 1792.

This page is dedicated to the men and women who braved great danger to come from France and other countries and worked under extremely difficult conditions in the Louisiana Wilderness to produce a better way of life for their descendants.  To all of them we are deeply indebted.
