Notes for Louis Joseph LABORDE


Also known as Papa Lou.

Attended Moreauville, La HS. Entered army 1943, trained at Camp Swift,
TX.
Served in 86th Chem. Mortor Battalion, Co. "B", France during WWII. Was
wounded near Nancy, France. in Sept. 1944. Was awarded EAME Ribbon and
Purple Heart. Discharged 1945.

Spoke French and English.
Papa retired from the State at about age 55. He had worked with the
Drivers Licence Office in West Monroe, been a house parent at LTI and a
guard at Angola State Prison. Had also worked for La. Parts, where he met
Louis Leporati. Some thought they were brothers.
Some of his nieces and nephews in Avoyelles called him Uncle Louis
but many knew him as "Deda" which simply meant,( "The Brother").
