Notes for Cloyd Jackson SAMMONS
Cloyd Jackson Sammons was a veteran of WWI. and a farmer in Geneva
County, Alabama. In addition to farming, he bought and sold livestock
and farm equipment. A victim of Parkinson's Disease, he underwent
surgery in Mobile, Alabama, where the tissues on one side of his brain
were operated on, and his condition was remarkably improved. Believing
that surgery on the tissues on the other side of his brain, would result
in a complete cure of his condition, he underwent surgery a second time,
knowing that the second surgery could be dangerous. His mind grew
progressively worse and eventually he had to be placed in Brice's
Hospital in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He later was moved to southeast Alabama
late in his life, where he remained in various nursing homes until his
death. He is buried at Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church in Dothan,
Alabama.
