Notes for George Huggins EADDY, JR
GEORGE HUGGINS EADDY, Jr
George Huggins Eaddy, Jr. was a Methodist and died in 1987 of heart
failure in Memphis, TN.
He graduated from Wake Forest College in 1917 and in that year entered
the U. S. Navy. In 1919, he came out a 3rd Class Radio Operator.
He entered the the Second World War as a U. S. Army Captain. He served as
Commanding Officer of the Tire Recapping School for six months. The
soldiers were sent to Goodyear, Goodrich, and Firestone for their
training. He was then transferred to Elkins, West Virginia, where he
served six months as commanding officer for a school of 300 or more men
studying mechanics.
He was next transferred to Omaha, Nebraska, to command a recapping school
and remained there nine about months. He was then sent overseas to North
Africa and to Naples, Italy, teaching Vitacap recapping schools in both
places. After this assignment, he returned to Detroit under the Office
of Ordinance and remained there for about six months. He was assigned to
Paris, France, for three months and then came back to Baltimore to wait
for an assignment. He applied for a discharge and was sent to Atlanta
for separation.
