Notes for Michael C. PROSSER

He enlisted in the Civil War in Marion County and re-enlisted while
serving in Virginia.

Family legends have reported that Michael C. Prosser moved to Tennessee
and later to Florence, Alabama where he owned a large tract of land. He
was reported to have been killed by a man who later married his widow.
Two of his sons were alleged to have run away after their stepfather also
killed their mother. The went to West Tennessee leaving a full sister
behind and also two half sisters. The families of the two half sisters
have been traced to the Burnsville, Mississippi area; but, Mary Prosser
has not been located. A Mary Prosser had a land transaction in the
Florence area about 1900; but, it is uncertain whether she is the same
individual.
