LIVINGSTON LEE EADDY, Sr.

HEMINGWAY - Livingston Lee Eaddy died November 20, 2003 in Nashville,
Tennessee. He was born April 23, 1919 and reared in Williamsburg County
near the Florence County line and Old Johnsonville Church. He was the
son of the late Ulmer S. Eaddy and Elizabeth (Miz Beth) Waddell Eaddy.
He graduated from Clemson College in 1942, immediately after which he
served in the 29th Infantry Division in the U. S. Army during World War
Two. He participated as a Company Commander in the Normandy invasion on
Omaha Beachead and in the Northern France Campaign. He was wounded twice
and was awarded Purple Hearts, two Bronze Stars, Combat Infantryman's
Badge, and American Defense Service Ribbon and Oak Leaf Cluster. He
retired with the rank of Captain after spending one year in the Veterans
Hospital. Livingston and Mary Julia Adams (a school teacher) were
married in 1946 and moved to Florida, where he was successful in teaching
Agribusiness. They lived in Lake City, Florida and later in
Tallahassee. Livingston is survived by his wife, Mary Adams Eaddy;
children Lynn Swartwood of Louisville, Kentucky, Dr. Lee Eaddy, Jr. of
Montgomery, Alabama, and Susan Eaddy of Nashville, Tennessee; nine
grandchldren; ten great-grandchlldren; three sisters, Carolyn E. King of
Aiken, South Carolina, Elizabeth E. Wyndham of Laramie, Wyoming, Dorothy
E. Stone of Fernandina Beach, Florida; and a brother, Ulmer S. Eaddy, Jr.
of Pawley's Island, South Carolina. In addition to his parents, he was
predeceased by: a sister, Lynette E. Payne and a brother, George Taylor
Eaddy. A memorial service will be held at Old Johnsoville United
Methodist Church in Hemingway on Saturday, March 13, 2004 at 11 a.m.
