Notes for John TIMMONS, SR

John Timmons (originally Jean Timmins), was born about 1662 in France,
and was one of the French Huguenots immigrants who left Brittany, France
after the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes in 1685. They came to
Charleston with their pastor, the Reverend Elias Prioleau and settled
eventually in the South Carolina low country. The name of this John
Timmons or (Jean Timmins) appears on an early roll of the Huguenot Church
of Charleston. Along with them came the sons of John Timmons, Sr who
were John Timmons Jr. and William Timmons.
