Notes for Nicolas LACOUR, I

At the time of his marriage to Petrona Perinne Brette, he was listed as a
resident of Natchez Post. He and his wife were residents of the Natchez
Post at the time of the Indian Massacre at Fort Rosalie in November
1729. Nicholal LaCour I. and his wife Perrine Brette must have been away
from Fort Rosalie at the time of the Indian Massacre as children were
born to them after this incident when he moved to Pointe Coupee Post.

It has been written that only two men survived the Indian attack at Fort
Rosalie (Natchez Post) in November 1729. They were known as laborers and
probably operated wagons which the Indians needed to haul away the
spoils; hence, they were spared the fate of all the other occupants.

Nicolas LaCour , I. was at Point Coupee as early as 1731 when Henry
Lacour was born to him and Petrona Perrine Brette.

This page is dedicated to the men and women who braved great danger to come from France and other countries and worked under extremely difficult conditions in the Louisiana Wilderness to produce a better way of life for their descendants.  To all of them we are deeply indebted.
