Notes for Pierre Joseph LABORDE

He settled in the Gum Ridge area. When his five children (by Julia
Guillory) were grown, he gave them each $5,000 for their inheritance,
leaving the remainder for his second family of 10 children and wife,
Eugenie. As it turned out he lost everything before he died, leaving
them with nothing. (As told by his daughter Louise LaBorde).

Louise LaBorde (Kelley) related through her neice, Jackie Patrick that
the correct name for this man was Pierre Joseph LaBorde and that he was
addressed as "P.J." LaBorde

This page is dedicated to the men and women who braved great danger to come from France and other countries and worked under extremely difficult conditions in the Louisiana Wilderness to produce a better way of life for their descendants.  To all of them we are deeply indebted.
