Notes for Frank BAMBER, JR

Bamber family photo taken in 1904 lists all children including grand
daughter Alice being held by mother Nettie, she would be about 18 years
old at the time. Adam Desselles in Bordelonville may have original.
Alice LaBorde was 1 month old in the photo, the picture would have been
taken around Thanksgiving of 1904.

Frank was 11 years old when he was sent to Bordelonville. This means he
arrived about 1855 based on his year of birth. Some accounts state that
he and his brother James had left England as stow-a-ways on a ship and
come to the U.S. It was said that they were put into separate
orphanages. Frank went to Tangipahoa Parish and James lived with a Coco
family in Avoyelles Parish.

Other accounts reveal that Frank and James Bamber were born in New
Orleans to Frank Bamber, Sr. and Bridget. They were orphaned at an early
age and separated, Frank going to Tangipahoa Parish and the James to
Avoyelles Parish.

This page is dedicated to the men and women who braved great danger to come from France and other countries and worked under extremely difficult conditions in the Louisiana Wilderness to produce a better way of life for their descendants.  To all of them we are deeply indebted.
