Notes for Virgie Estell AUTRY

This is "Pud".
"Pud" spent many years living in Jackson, MI with second husband
Leslie C. Perry. Son Charles Ray Crawley made his home there also. After
Leslie died, Pud was cared for by Charles and his wife Judy. Daughter La
Verne moved Pud to Goldthwaite, TX from MI about 1991. She has been in a
nursing home the entire time.
The story goes that Gaston "Peewee" Crawley, her first husband,
called her "Pudden" one day in front of grandson Louis DeVon (Don)
LaBorde, (ME), and I called her "Pud" after that.

This page is dedicated to the men and women who braved great danger to come from France and other countries and worked under extremely difficult conditions in the Louisiana Wilderness to produce a better way of life for their descendants.  To all of them we are deeply indebted.
