Janie Mae Purvis lived in Columbia, SC and graduated from Columbia
College where she was president of her senior class. She taught third
grade for many years.
According to Lula Simmons Eaddy (aka: Lulie E. Felder) her mother was a
Purvis from Timmonsville, SC, sister of Melvin Purvis, former FBI agent
who was instrumental in finding and killing "Public Enemy Number One",
John Dillinger in the 1930's.
