Notes for Ernest Johnson EADDY

Ernest Johnson Eaddy was the son of John Mallard Eaddy and Sarah Ellen
Haselden. He completed two years at Wofford College (1921-22). He then
transferred to the University of South Carolina where he completed the
five year course in civil engineering in four years. He pursued several
phases of engineering until 1932 when he formed the Textile Shops
partnership with his sister Rowena Adelle Eaddy and brother-in-law, John
Wiley Williams. They later bought a firm in Florida and were highly
successful in both businesses. He establishment the Sunray Company, of
Spartanburg, SC was a financial success. While operating these plants,
he successfully patented about 30 inventions and devices. One of his
devices was a windshield washer which is found on most cars today.

Between 1964 and 1968, Ernest Johnson Eaddy sold all of his plants and
retired. He and his family lived in Spartanburg, SC where he enjoyed
playing the pipe organ he had installed in his home.
