The State's Obituaries Published Saturday, June 12, 1999, in The State
Newspaper.

Grave side services for Edward Donnis Chinnes, 78 of 1112 Heatherwood
Circle, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 14, 1999 in the Florence
National Cemetery. The Family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. on
Sunday at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home and other times at the
residence. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society,, P. O.
Box 316, Conway, SC 29526 or the Parkinson Foundation, 1501 North West
9th Ave., Miami, FL 33126.

Mr. Chinnes died Friday, June 11, 1999 in a Florence health care facility
after an illness. Born in Williamsburg Co., he was a son of the late
Benjamin Ryan Tillman and Italine Altman Chinnes. He was a veteran of
World War II having served in the U. S. Navy and had retired from McLeod
Medical Center in 1987. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1,
the V.F.W. #3191, and the Elks Club. Mr. Chinnes was a member of the
First Baptist Church and the Roy Graham Sunday School Class.

Surviving are his wife, Ruby Owens Chinnes of the home; sons, Edward Ryan
Chinnes of Florence and Benjamin Stephen Chinnes of Columbia; brothers,
Lloyd Chinnes of Myrtle Beach, Waney Chinnes of Charleston, and Bennie
Allen Chinnes of Hannahan; sisters, Eunice Chinnes Lentz, and Margie
Chinnes McDaniel both of Johnsonville; and four grandchildren. He was
preceded by a grandson, Christopher Aaron Chinnes who died in 1988; a
brother, Joe D. Chinnes and a sister, Dewese C. Smith.
