Notes for Lucy EADY

LETTER FROM LUCY EADY

Wildwood, Fla. May 12, 1884

Mr. R. J. Eaddy*
Dear Cousin

It was with great pleasure that I received and read a letter from you, a
cousin whom I have never seen. However, I was not very much surprised
for cousin Beauregard** had told us about you, said he had given you my
post office address. Cousin B.*** will write you a letter and put it in
with mine. We are all as well as we generaly are. Mother is not very
well.

Well Cousin Jimmie I guess you dont know much about us. You never saw
any of us to remember us. Eddie is with us. He is 28 and not married
yet.

Mary and her husband, Mr. Hicks was here a week ago they are well.
Joanna is living in Kentucky. We have not heard from her a long while
have not seen her in 5 years that seems a long time.

Emma is younger than myself she is nearly sixteen but is small.

Little Oliver is the baby he is six years old.

And me, well I cant tell you about myself someone else will have to tell
you how I look.

Well! Well!! Well!!! You just ought to see the vegetables that are being
shipped from Wildwood. Eddie is shipping a good many. We will have
watermelons about the first of June come help us eat them.

I am glad you are having a nice time with the girls out there. Suppose
you come out to see us and see if you cant have a nice time with the
girls out here. There are some very nice girls here.

We would all be glad to see you or any of our relatives from home.
Mother says tell Aunt Camelia to write to her. She would be glad to hear
from her. I wish it were so we could visit you all, but we cannot come.

Well Cousin Jimmie it is bed time and I must close for tonight. Give
love to your mother, cousins, John Jay and Sallie**** and all who may ask
about us.

Write again to
Your Cousin
Lucy Eady

Oh, I forgot, keep plenty of love for yourself dont give it all away. I
will send you one of my slippers. Lucy Eady.

* Robert James Eaddy, Jr., son of Robert James Eaddy, Sr. and Mary
Camellia Owens.
** Probably Gregory Beauregard Eaddy who lived and worked in Florida
for a period of time.
*** Probably Bascom Bartell Eady, brother of Lucy Eady.
**** John Jay Eaddy mentioned here was married to Sarah Martha Stone aka:
"Sallie" and was a brother of Robert James Eaddy, Jr.

From the records of Page-Theus Funeral Home, Leesburg, Florida (The
Funeral Director) Lucy Eady Meloche b. 10/20/1854 in S.C. d. 4/6/1947
(Note: According to these dates she would have been 93 on her next
birthday. Grandmother Hicks (Mary Catherine Eady Hicks) recalled
she was the second child and Lucy was the fifth. My notes show Lucy was
born about 1863, but I cannot verify any date. --Cyril J. Floyd)

Note: The birth date of 1854 places Lucy Eady as the first child. If
the birth date of 1863 were used for Lucy, she would fit correctly in the
family order as the fifth and Mary Catherine Eady as the second child.
This would place the death of Lucy about 84 years.
