Notes for Lazinka Elaine YARBOROUGH

LAZINKA ELAINE YARBOROUGH
aka
ELAINE Y. EADDY

Lazinka Elaine Yarborough, was the author of "The Promised Land: The
James Eaddy Family in South Carolina", a genealogical study and family
history of this family and many others who joined the family in
marriage. She wrote under the name of Elaine Y. Eaddy, completed her
research in 1975, and it was published by the State Publishing Company,
Columbia, South Carolina. This was a massive undertaking for her and
numerous others who assisted. We who bear this surname or who are
associated by marriage should always be grateful.

She was a graduate of Coker College, Hartsville, South Carolina, a former
librarian, named Williamsburg County Teacher-of-the-year and State
Runner-up in 1960, and a charter member of Pi Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma,
International Society of Women Educators. Persons who knew her reported
that she was an excellent teacher who could make language arts come
alive. She was an energetic and powerfully effective communicator.
College and high school students were tutored in her home to prepare for
course exams and placement tests.
