Notes for Marion EDDY

MARION (EDDY) ROGERS

Marion (Eddy) Rogers, Born January 26, 1944 and Died May 11, 2002 in
Gainesville, Florida. Services were held at Milam Funeral Home Chapel on
Tuesday 2:00 p.m., May 14, 2002, Reverend Tom Lamee officiating.
Interment was at Newnansville Cemetery, Alachua, Florida.

In Remembrance...

When I think of Marion Eddy Rogers, the first thought that springs to
mind is not so much of who she was, but of what she was - a truly, happy
person. She was first a daughter, to whom her parents, Sally Cullen, and
Felix Lamar Eddy utterly adored, the physical personification of their
love, and indeed love itself.

As she grew older however, she would soon discover that she was meant to
be not only a daughter, but much more, for two intruders were destined to
shake up her happy home. They were her sisters, Mary Eddy and Susan
Eddy. Marion however with her wondrous heart, welcomed them both as if
she had known them always, and adored their company.

As she grew and matured in body, her soul not only kept pace. It
exceeded her form, allowing her the strength to deal with her father's
death when she was seventeen. And even more, to help both her sisters
and her mother through this crisis with her calm and gentle nature.

At first glance, one would not believe such strength of spirit could
exist in such an unimposing form, but it did. A trait I know for certain
she acquired from her mother, and through her mother's teachings, she
mastered it well. Evidence of this is evident to all those with whom she
came in contact, both family and friends. Many of with whom she made
lifelong friendships and out of their mutual love for her, have made this
truth undeniable by being here today.

Do not think; however, that Marion's journey of kindness was simply a
flat plain which remained consistent throughout her life. Her's was a
true mission, one which would yield fabulous treasures... for the next
steps she would undertake were more great triumphs to her existence --
that of marriage and the creation of a family.

She enjoined the first of these with her husband of thirty-six years,
Gaines Rogers, for whom she was a dedicated and loving wife, a job to
which she committed her utmost strength in performing. One should never
doubt that she was proud of her job as a homemaker, although she did
prefer the title of "domestic engineer".

After marriage, her love like the sun reaching its apex in the afternoon
sky, grew brightest with the births of her two children, her daughter
LeeAnne Rogers, and her son Chris Rogers. Both of whom, she held tight
against her heart to absorb that love which she emitted like rays of
sunlight, warming them and brightening their souls so they could carry
her spirit with them always -- and they shall. As shall I, her nephew,
whom she always treated as a son, will always do.

Marion was love, and truly there is no better word that could describe
her. For all those who knew her, and were enriched by the experience, I
ask you for her, to pass on her love to someone else, and encourage them
to do the same. And in so doing, she will live forever and be with us
always.
