Notes for Katherine VANIK

Katherine Vanik was a German who married Cecil F. Eaddy just prior to his
departure for Germany in World War I. She must have been a beautiful
woman or possessed an interesting personality. She was apparently
readily accepted by Virginia Louella Bartell Eaddy, her mother-in-law,
who was a descendant of Jacob Bartell, I. Bartell was a native of Hesse,
Germany who served with the British in the Revolutionary War, was
captured, chose to remain in America and settled with the Eaddy family on
Lynches Creek. It was she who named several children for Katherine
Vanik, including Linwood Vanik James, Vanik Silas Eaddy, and possibly
Kathryn Virginia Eaddy.

This page is dedicated to the men and women who braved great danger to establish and defend the freedoms we enjoy as Americans.  To all of them we are deeply indebted and especially those who died for this cause.
